What is the Relationship Between Current transformer and The Turn

 a Current transformer Role

Current transformers is mainly used to proportionally convert large currents into smaller currents for use in secondary equipment such as measurement and protection.

the Turns Role

The number of turns refers to the number of turns in a current transformer's winding.

What is the Relationship Between Current transformer and The Turn

   Transformer Turns and Ratio

1 turn: Power consumption = meter reading x transformer ratio
2 turns: Power consumption = meter reading x transformer ratio/2
3 turns: Power consumption = meter reading x transformer ratio/3

When primary current passes through a current transformer's primary winding, it generates alternating magnetic flux in the core.

According to the law of electromagnetic induction, an electromotive force is induced in the secondary winding.

The magnitude of this induced electromotive force is closely related to the number of turns.

The greater the number of turns, the greater the induced electromotive force; the fewer the turns, the smaller the induced electromotive force.

In a real power system, if a large current needs to be measured, by appropriately adjusting the number of turns in the current transformer, the large current can be accurately converted into a smaller current suitable for the measuring instrument.

An inappropriate number of turns can lead to inaccurate measurement results and may even affect the normal operation of the entire power system.

From another perspective, the transformation ratio of a current transformer is also related to the number of turns.

The transformation ratio is the ratio of the primary current to the secondary current.

This ratio is determined by the turns ratio.

A larger turns ratio results in a greater transformation ratio, enabling the conversion of larger primary currents into relatively smaller secondary currents.

In the design and operation of power systems, accurately understanding the relationship between current transformers and turns is directly related to power measurement accuracy, the reliability of protective devices, and overall system safety.

Improper turns configuration can lead to increased measurement errors, causing protective devices to malfunction or fail to operate, with potentially serious consequences.
