The core causes of circuit breaker overheating include overload, poor contact, poor heat dissipation, quality issues, improper operation, and environmental factors. Overload and poor contact are the most common causes.
Overload
When the actual circuit current exceeds the rated current of the circuit breaker for a long period of time, Joule's law indicates that the increased current will cause heat. Simultaneous operation of multiple high-power electrical appliances can also cause circuit breaker overheating.
Poor Contact
Loose screws, insufficient contact pressure, or surface oxidation on the circuit breaker terminals can increase contact resistance, generate excessive heat, and cause the circuit breaker to overheat.
Conductive Component Failure
Loose conductive rods and screw fasteners inside the circuit breaker, or oxidation of components that carry current, can also cause localized overheating, leading to circuit breaker overheating.
Poor Heat Dissipation
Installation environment issues: An overly enclosed or poorly ventilated environment, or accumulation of dust or oil on surfaces, can hinder heat dissipation.
Design Flaw
The circuit breaker's heat dissipation structure is defective, causing overheating when powered on for extended periods.
Deterioration of insulation materials
Damage in internal insulation components can cause discharge or short circuits, generating abnormal heat.
