What is vacuum circuit breaker advantages and disadvantages?
Vacuum circuit breaker refers to a circuit breaker that uses vacuum as an arc extinguishing and insulating medium and performs current breaking and closing in a vacuum container. It is mainly used in high voltage switchgear, with the following characteristics:
Vacuum circuit Breaker advantages:
1. High safety: there is no flammable medium such as oil, which reduces the risk of fire and explosion.
2. Reliability: Due to the sealed structure, it will not be affected by moisture, dust, harmful gases, etc., which improves the working reliability.
3. Low maintenance cost: small maintenance workload, low maintenance cost, generally up to about 20 years without overhaul.
4 .Multiple reclosing function: suitable for distribution network application requirements.
Vacuum circuit breaker disadvantages:
1. Low breaking capacity of large currents: generally only used in 35kV and below voltage levels.
2. indoor use: mainly used in indoor environments, outdoor use may require additional protective measures.
3. Over-voltage problem: When opening and closing inductive loads or capacitive loads, it is easy to cause over-voltage, which needs to be protected accordingly.
4. Rated current throughput capacity is not strong
5. price problem: although the operation and maintenance costs are low, but the price of a high investment, especially the professional production of vacuum interrupters and institutional reliability requirements.
6. structural problems: due to the use of butt-type contact structure and spring-operated mechanism, may produce closing bounce and splitting rebound, which may lead to contact burns or the stable operation of the grid is affected.

In summary, vacuum circuit breakers occupy an important position in the medium voltage field, especially in 10kV indoor products, because of their economy, environmental protection, easy maintenance and high safety. However, they have certain limitations in high voltage levels and outdoor applications, and the initial investment cost is relatively high.
