The main protective functions of the vacuum circuit breaker include overload protection, short circuit protection, leakage protection and failure protection, as follows:
Overload protection
When the vacuum circuit current exceeds the rated value of the vacuum circuit breaker, the power supply is automatically cut off to prevent overheating, short circuit and equipment damage of the wire. This is the most basic protection function of the circuit breaker, which is widely used in home and industrial scenarios.
Short circuit protection
When a circuit short circuit is detected (such as direct contact between adjacent conductors), the fault current is quickly cut off to avoid arc-induced fire or equipment damage, and to ensure the stable operation of the power system.
Leakage protection
When a human body is electrocuted or the equipment is leaking, the power supply is immediately cut off to prevent electric shock accidents and fire risks. Common types include electromagnetic, voltage-operated and transistor current-operated vacuum circuit breaker.
Failure protection
In the event of a fault or maintenance, if the main circuit breaker fails to operate in time, the auxiliary protection device will automatically cut off the relevant vacuum circuit breaker to prevent the fault from expanding and ensure safety.
Additional note:
Some vacuum circuit breaker also have undervoltage protection function, which automatically disconnects the circuit when the voltage is lower than the set value to prevent abnormal operation of the equipment.
