How to test vacuum circuit breaker?

How to test vacuum circuit breaker?

There are six main testing methods for vacuum circuit breakers, which are observation method, industrial frequency withstand voltage method, spark meter method, coupling capacitance method, ray method and magnetron discharge method.

The following will detail the six main detection methods of vacuum circuit breaker.

1. The observation method

Observation method is the most simple and intuitive detection method, mainly by observing the arc color in the vacuum circuit breaker interrupter to determine whether the vacuum is reduced. For the glass shell arc extinguishing chamber, you can clearly see the internal arc, so as to initially judge its performance status.

2. Frequency voltage method

Industrial frequency withstand pressure method is a common method to determine the vacuum degree of vacuum circuit breaker. In the detection process, the two contacts of the vacuum circuit breaker will be pulled to the rated opening distance, and then apply the industrial frequency voltage to observe its withstand. If the vacuum circuit breaker can withstand the voltage in the specified time without breakdown or discharge phenomenon, it is considered that the vacuum degree is qualified.

3. Spark meter method

Spark meter method is a method of testing using a spark detector. By moving the spark detector along the surface of the arc extinguishing chamber, observe its internal luminescence under the action of high-frequency electric field, according to the color of the light can be discerned within the arc extinguishing chamber vacuum. This method is easy to operate, but only qualitative judgment.

4. Coupled capacitance method

Coupling capacitance method is based on partial discharge measurement principle of a detection method. By measuring the coupling capacitance value between the vacuum circuit breaker breakers, you can deduce the size of its vacuum. This method can realize online testing, and less impact on the equipment, but the sensitivity is relatively low.

5. Ray method

Ray method is the use of X-rays on the gas molecules within the arc extinguishing chamber ionization effect of a method of detection. Under the action of X-rays, trace gas molecules in the arc extinguishing chamber will produce a stable ionization current, by measuring the size of the current can determine the vacuum of the vacuum circuit breaker. This method has high precision and sensitivity, but the equipment cost is higher.

6.Magnetron discharge method

Magnetron discharge method is a quantitative test method widely used in engineering practice. By adding a high-voltage pulse between the contacts and measuring the strength of the resulting magnetic field, the vacuum value of the vacuum circuit breaker can be accurately deduced. This method has high precision and reliability, and is suitable for occasions where the performance of vacuum circuit breakers is accurately assessed.
