1.What is the vacuum circuit breaker?

Vacuum circuit breaker come from the fact that both the arc extinguishing medium and the insulating medium of the contact gap after arc extinguishing are high vacuum; it has the advantages of compact size, light weight, frequent operation, and no arc extinguishing maintenance.

Vacuum circuit breaker is made up of three basic parts: vacuum interrupter, operational mechanism, bracket, and additional other components.

 

2.How does vacuum circuit work?

Vacuum circuit breaker working principle is mainly based on its special arc extinguishing mechanism and insulation characteristics. When the movable and static contacts break under the action of the operating mechanism, an electric arc is generated between the contacts, and the contact surface volatile vapour at a high temperature. Due to the special shape of the contact design, a magnetic field is generated when the current passes through, and the arc moves rapidly along the tangential direction of the contact surface under the action of this magnetic field, and condenses part of the metal vapour on the metal cylinder (shield), and the arc is extinguished when it naturally passes through the zero point, and the strength of the medium between the contacts is rapidly restored.

Vacuum circuit breakers use vacuum as an arc extinguishing medium, and their internal components include main contacts, fixed contacts, static contacts, static contact edges, movable contact edges, breaks, vacuum sealing rings, coil springs and other components. When the current through the break generates an arc, the vacuum circuit breaker ensures the safe operation of the circuit through four steps: disconnection, arc extinguishing, separation and recovery. Specifically, the main contacts are separated to form a break in the disconnection process; the arc extinguishing stage of the arc is compressed and extinguished under the action of the self-extinguishing electric field; the movable and static contacts are separated to prevent the arc from jumping out in the separation process; and finally, the circuit breaker is restored to its normal operating state in the recovery stage to ensure the safety of the circuit.

The arc extinguishing mechanism of vacuum circuit breaker is different from that of traditional circuit breakers, which uses the vacuum environment to make the arc extinguished quickly. In the vacuum state, the arc extinguishing mainly relies on the formation of the arc in the metal vapour and extinguishing process. Small current vacuum arc and high current vacuum arc performance is different, but all rely on the special properties of the vacuum environment to quickly extinguish the arc.

Generally, the working principle of the vacuum circuit breaker is one of its core features, the use of vacuum as an arc extinguishing medium, through the special magnetic field design and electric field effect, to ensure that the arc is extinguished in a very short period of time, so as to protect the safe operation of the circuit.
