Fault monitoring of vacuum interrupter in high-voltage vacuum circuit breaker is mainly achieved through the following methods, combining qualitative and quantitative detection methods to ensure safe operation of the equipment:

1. Power Frequency Withstand Voltage Test (Qualitative Test)
Operational Procedure
With the circuit breaker in the open position, apply a power frequency voltage (typically 10kV plus 42kV) between the moving and static contacts for one minute and observe the leakage current and discharge phenomena.
Judgment Criteria
If there is no sustained discharge and the leakage current is within the allowable range, the vacuum level is acceptable.
If discharge occurs or the leakage current exceeds the standard, it indicates a leak in the vacuum interrupter and the vacuum bulb needs to be replaced.
2. Vacuum Degree Testing Method (Quantitative Detection)
Core Principle
This method accurately measures the vacuum degree (in Pa) by measuring the ion current generated by the gas within the arc extinguishing chamber and combining it with magnetic field-enhanced electron impact ionization.
Advantages
It directly reflects the vacuum degree trend and can monitor developing leaks.
Incorporating synchronized pulsed magnetron discharge technology improves detection sensitivity.
3. Other Auxiliary Testing Methods
Contact Resistance Measurement
Use a double-arm bridge to measure the closing contact resistance (≤40µΩ). An abnormal increase may indicate contact wear or poor contact.
Infrared Temperature Measurement
Measure the temperature of electrical connection points. Abnormal heating may be caused by excessive contact resistance or internal faults.
Actuator Mechanism Inspection
Perform regular maintenance of the operating mechanism to ensure proper spring energy storage and smooth linkage transmission to prevent mechanical failures from indirectly affecting the vacuum interrupter.
4. Maintenance Recommendations
Regular Inspection: It is recommended to inspect the vacuum level every 2,000 interruptions or annually.
Fault Response: If an abnormality is detected during the power frequency withstand voltage test, the equipment must be immediately shut down and the vacuum interrupter replaced. If the contact resistance exceeds the specified value, contact wear must be checked.
The above comprehensive monitoring measures can effectively prevent vacuum interrupter failures in high-voltage vacuum circuit breakers and ensure the safe and stable operation of the power system.
