If it still trips immediately while unloaded, the issue is likely damaged wiring insulation, moisture ingress, or incorrect neutral/ground wiring.
2. Control Circuit and Power Supply Anomalies
Fault Symptoms: Excessively low control power supply voltage, or incorrect/loose wiring in the control circuit, can prevent the closing signal from being maintained; additionally, internal circuit breaker trip unit malfunctions or damaged relays can cause the breaker to trip automatically after closing.

Fault symptoms: The load capacity of the main switch is lower than the combined capacity of the branch switches, or the main switch is equipped with earth-leakage protection while the branch switches are not. In this scenario, even a minor earth-leakage fault can cause the main switch to trip immediately (bypassing the branch switch) due to its higher sensitivity; additionally, selecting an undersized switch or experiencing overheating due to loose connections can lead to tripping caused by overload.
Troubleshooting method: Verify the rated parameters of both the main and branch switches, avoid the simultaneous use of high-power appliances, and ensure that the protection configurations of the upstream and downstream circuit breakers are properly matched.
4. Mechanical and Operating Mechanism Faults
Fault Symptoms: Prolonged use may cause the closing spring to undergo fatigue deformation or result in insufficient energy storage; alternatively, binding or corrosion in the hydraulic or spring operating mechanism can lead to abnormal energy transmission. Additionally, a jammed or worn latching mechanism may prevent the mechanism from securely locking after closing, resulting in an immediate trip following the closing operation.
Troubleshooting Methods: Lubricate and mechanically adjust the operating mechanism; replace any springs, connecting rods, or latching components that are aged, deformed, or malfunctioning.
5. Interlock lockout or abnormal "pumping"
Fault symptoms: If interlock conditions are not met-such as the switchgear truck being misaligned or the earthing switch remaining closed-the interlock device will directly lock out the opening and closing circuits. Additionally, if a closing command is issued to a line with a short circuit and the protective relay trips the breaker, the breaker may undergo repeated "close-open" cycles-a phenomenon known as "pumping"-if the closing command is not cleared.
Troubleshooting: Verify the position of the switchgear truck and the status of the earthing switch to ensure all safety interlock conditions are satisfied. In the event of pumping, immediately identify and clear the line short-circuit fault to prevent severe contact erosion.
