Consequences of Contact Wear
·A decrease in contact pressure:
The contact pressure of a new arc extinguishing chamber is 3730 N. After 3mm of arc extinguishing chamber contact wear, the contact pressure is 2450 N. This reduces the contact's ability to resist electrodynamic forces, making it unable to withstand short-term withstand currents and peak withstand currents.
·An increase in contact resistance.
As contacts wear, the contact surface deteriorates, increasing resistance and temperature rise.
·Contact roughness.
An resulting in reduced breaking capacity.
Types of Contact Wear
·Electrical Wear: When interrupting current, the high temperature of the arc causes metal vaporization and evaporation, resulting in material loss on the contact surface.
·Mechanical Wear: Physical wear caused by friction when the contacts close.
Factors Affecting Contact Wear
• Frequency of interrupting current: Frequent operation accelerates contact wear.
• Contact Material: The wear resistance of different materials (such as copper, silver, or silver-based alloys) varies significantly.
·Contact Pressure: Insufficient pressure can lead to poor contact, increased resistance and heat accumulation, and accelerated wear.
Contact Inspection and Maintenance
·Wear Threshold: Contacts must be replaced when wear exceeds 0.5mm. A maximum wear of 3mm is generally permitted.
·Online Monitoring: Regularly measure contact thickness, conduct electrical life tests, and assess remaining life.
xDTZ vCB product
·VS1-12 vacuum circuit breaker is a three phrase 12Kv, 50Hz, (also used for 60Hz) indoor power transmission and distribution equipment,
which can be installed in switchgear such as fixed switch gear, withdrawable switchgear, and center switchgear.
·VS1-12 VCB is especially suitable for places with frequent operations and long-term maintenance free requirements.
